A training opportunity is being offered in Chilliwack that will cover a wide assortment of topics related to the suppression of forest fires.
The two-day long BC Wildfire Service S100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety Training course can be helpful to anyone who works in the field of wildfire control. The registration fee has been set at $234.99, and this includes the instruction, text and other supplies. Each participant who successfully finishes the course will receive a certificate from the province.
The event will be divided into both classroom and field components, and organizers have asked that each student brings their hard hat as well as work gloves, a high visibility vest or coat, appropriate attire including footwear and a pen or pencil and notebook.
A training session like this can give firefighters a chance to add to their skill set, and it can also play an important role in ensuring the province in well prepared for wildfire season. Organizers noted that successful students will be given the ‘B.C. Forest Service S100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety certificate’. Local Print shops can design and produce certificates for workshops such as this.
