Chilliwack concert to present holiday tale

Classical musical groups from around Chilliwack will be joining together to present the first ever Winter Fantasia concert.

The concert will present a narrative called “The Christmas Wish” by Per Breiehagen and Lori Evert, with visuals as well as instrumental music. Eight different ensembles will be participating, including the Cascadia Wind Ensemble, Philomusica Chorus, and Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra.

The area’s young musicians will also be represented through the Chilliwack Youth Orchestra, Fraser Valley Children’s Choir, and Voces Giovntu, also known as Vox Juventutis. Discount tickets will be available for attendees over 55, under 28, or part of the Explore the Arts program.

The Winter Fantasia concert will aim to present an operatic narrative that concludes in a sense of joy and celebration of the winter holidays. The show is part of the Envision Financial Series, which will also include the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra’s performance of “A Traditional Christmas” featuring holiday standards, and a presentation of Handel’s famous classical piece “Messiah” by the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra Chorus.

The show is presented by the Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society and a bevy of local sponsors. Classical concerts such as this are often promoted through methods such as poster printing and radio marketing.

The first Winter Fantasia Concert will take place on the evening of December 4 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
