Chillies to recognize local arts

The Chilliwack Arts Council will hold its annual Chillies awards ceremony this November, looking to recognize the best in local arts and culture.

The ceremony will be hosted by comedian Cliff Prang, with accompaniment by the jazzy Bob Tarr Trio. The awards will recognize performers and productions in local theater, music, film, visual arts, and literature. There will also be the Arts Education Champion Awards for individuals and groups who have helped grow the local cultural sphere, the Cultural Achievement Award, Public Art of the Year, and Uber-Achiever Award, among other recognitions.

Award nominees were selected through an online voting process, with five finalists for each prize. The stage show will also include variety acts from a selection of nominees, featuring the best in the year’s comedy, dance, drama and music. There will be a “red carpet” ceremony with nominees and other local luminaries arriving before the official ceremony begins.

The awards are presented in association with The Chilliwack Progress, The Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre, chillTV & chillsounds. There will be discount tickets available for seniors and youth, as well as Red Membership subscribers. Local awards like this often use printing services and trophy shops to create mementos for winners to take home.

The 2026 edition of The Chillies will take place at the Chilliwack Arts & Culture Centre on the evening of November 19.
