Volunteers needed to help out with Burnabys Hats Off festival

The Hats Off Day event is fast approaching, and a call is going out to all of those in Burnaby who might be interested in lending a hand.

This year’s theme for the annual street festival and parade is ‘Hollywood Glam’, and as many as 60,000 people are expected to come out and take part in the activities. A variety of volunteer positions will need to be manned, including helping out with the parade and Family Fun Dash, as well as manning the barricades set up to control crowds and traffic. Event hosts and photographers are also being sought.

There are spots for people of every age and skill set, including high school students, and those who volunteer will be given instruction and training in what is required of them. Participants will even be able to choose between two different shift times. Those who wish to supervise the barricades will need to be at least 19 years of age, and a certification in traffic control will be an asset.

Teams of coworkers are also being asked to lend a hand. A printing company, for example, will be able the produce information sheets and volunteer handbooks, custom T-Shirts, and any other printed items that are needed to help keep things organized.

Anyone who would like to sign up or wants more information is encouraged to visit the event’s website. The festival is scheduled to take place on June 6th.
