The 5th annual Bloom art auction is taking place in Burnaby this April. The event is a major fundraiser for the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre and will be hosted by Margaret Gallagher, with over 100 custom Kokeshi dolls to be auctioned off to the highest bidder
Kokeshi are traditional wooden Japanese dolls that derive from a custom dating back to the 1700s. Some of the artists who have designed the dolls include Jeff Chiba Stearns, Tomoyo Ihaya, Natasha Zimich, and Yumi Eto. Those who are interested in seeing the dolls that will be up for auction can get an online preview from April 10 - 25.
In addition to a live auction, guests will enjoy appetizers, a cash bar, a silent auction, Kokeshi doll animations, games with prizes, and a raffle. The event will be a great introduction to this unique Japanese art form.
Organizers of the Bloom Art Auction are no doubt working with Burnaby printing companies to create a flyer or a poster advertising the event. Flyers are an inexpensive way of advertising and can be distributed in a wide variety of ways. This helps them reach a large number of people in a very short time. Posters can be hung in various public buildings and areas to advertise the event as well.
