The Place des Arts centre in Coquitlam is set to launch a number of new exhibits with a special opening reception in January. Guests will enjoy meeting some of the artists, viewing the pieces on display, and having some wine.
Among the displays coming up in the new year are ‘Talking to Strangers’, a multimedia display by Bill Edmonds; a mixed-media installation from Rochael Stableford and Maris Pahl; and ‘Shape and Shade’, a collection of canvas pieces produced by Ximeng Guo.
Other events taking place at the facility in January include a talk from Ivan Sayers as part of the Salon Speaker Series, a family day, and a Robbie Burns celebration. The ‘A Celebration of Robbie Burns Dinner and Concert’ will celebrate the birthday of the Scottish poet and songwriter. A traditional Scottish dinner will be served, and will be followed by a concert featuring fiddler Rosie Carver, the band Blackthorn, and a guest bagpiper. Emphasis will be on the songs of Burns himself.
The Place des Arts showcases will no doubt attract guests from cities and towns across the region, such as nearby Burnaby. Local printing companies are often asked by the organizers of such events to provide Flyers or Posters for advertising.
The Place des Arts main opening reception is being held on January 9 from 7:00-9:00pm. Admission is free. Ivan Sayers will speak at the Salon Speaker Series on January 16, beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5 each.
The Robbie Burns Dinner and Concert is taking place on January 18; the meal begins at 6:00pm and the concert at 7:30pm.
