The club is one of 10 across the country receiving funding in 2023, as part of the “Game. Set. Equity.” program. Two other clubs in British Columbia will also receive funding - the UBC Women’s Tennis Team in Vancouver and the Okanagan Junior Aces Wheelchair Tennis in Kelowna.
Burnaby will receive their Tennis Canada funding from November through December of this year.
Tennis Canada says the funding will support Burnaby Tennis Club in increasing the number of women and girls who play tennis.
Burnaby Tennis Club has stated that it plans to use the funding to offer free beginner classes to girls who might not otherwise have the resources to start playing tennis. Clubs like Burnaby Tennis can get the word out about their tennis equity programs using poster printing services.

Thanks to the extra funding, a greater number of women and girls will have the chance to break into the world of tennis. The next round of applications for the “Game. Set. Equity.” Community Tennis Grants will start at the beginning of next year.
