Fundraiser for L'Arche will showcase artists with disabilities

The 5th annual Art of Being Together art show and sale is taking place this April in Burnaby. It is a fundraiser for L'Arche of Greater Vancouver.

The theme of this year's show is "A celebration of art. A celebration of humanity". All of those who submitted works for the show have intellectual disabilities, and were asked to use the word "with" as their inspiration. During the evening, 10 finalists will be announced and 10 honorable mentions will be handed out. There will also be a People's Choice award, and the works of art will be available for purchase.

Musical entertainment will be provided during the evening by the Sheldon Leung Jazz Trio, and a special celebrity guest artist will be on hand to create a painting live during the event. Guests will also be treated to refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.

This year, the event will also be celebrating both the 50th anniversary of L'Arche International and the 40th anniversary of L'Arche Greater Vancouver. The organization, which was founded by Jean Vanier, provides both residential and day programs for those with developmental disabilities.

Organizers of the show will want to attract as many guests as possible to this fundraising event, so it is likely they will be distributing Brochures of Flyers throughout Burnaby. Local Print companies are often asked to provide such items.

The Art of Being Together is being held at the Nikkei Centre on April 3rd from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Tickets are $25 each. Contact Gillian at 604-435-9544 for more information.
