Festival welcomes spring to the city

The 26th annual Rhododendron Festival is taking place this May and is hosted by the Burnaby Rhododendron and Gardens Society.

The festival is set to feature a day filled with events and activities suitable for those of any age. Various gardening and plant organizations are expected to be on hand to provide information, while guides will lead nature tours of Deer Park and live entertainers will be appearing all through the day.

There will be demonstrations, arts and crafts for sale, live and silent auctions, and seminars; topics of discussion will include "Weed-free gardening" and "Introduction to native bees in your garden". The People's Choice Bouquet competition winner will be chosen, and children can take part in activities such as kite making and face painting. In addition, adults can try their hand at pot painting and button making.

Further, the Burnaby Art Gallery is holding a free family collage and printing activity as well as hosting a Strawberry Tea during the afternoon. While tickets for the tea are free, any donations will go to support Citizen's Support Outings for the Elderly.

Organizers of events like this often turn to Burnaby Print companies to help decorate and build excitement. They may invest in banner printing to produce a product that can help recognize any local businesses that have made the event possible.

The Rhododendron Festival will be held at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on May 4th from 10:00am – 6:00pm. Admission is free.
