Burnaby workshop to help parents with mealtimes

For parents of a child who is non-neurotypical, meal times may be a real challenge, but a Burnaby area workshop may be able to make them a whole lot easier.

Parents of autistics and other neurodivergents may have concerns about their child’s eating habits, and Autism Community Training wants to help by hosting a workshop. Its “Improving Family Mealtimes, One Bite at a Time” will be presented by two experienced professionals in the field.

During the presentation, the facilitators will discuss common nutritional concerns, including how to introduce new food textures and tastes. The goal is to make eating more pleasant for both the child and the parents or caregivers, and the fee to participate in the activity starts at $100. It will be held online and can be watched from anywhere with an active internet connection. Autism Funding may be used to help pay the tuition cost for this workshop.

Offering the students in a class like this hard-copy learning materials will allow them to easily continue learning even after it is over. Meal-themed social story Books and other items can be rendered from a printing services company.

Improving Family Mealtimes, One Bite at a Time will be presented on November 26th. It will start at 9:30 am, and it is set to conclude at 2:45 pm.
