Burnaby to lend Mother Nature a helping hand

When it comes to environmental stewardship, small projects can make a big impact, and this is the spirit behind a Burnaby area project.

As many hands make light work, the organizers of the invasive plant removal party planned for Cariboo Heights Forest are hoping for a great turnout. The group will be donning work gloves so they can tackle the task of removing invasive species such as small balsam and Himalayan blackberry from the site, and the activity has been organized by the Cariboo Heights Forest Preservation Society.

Members of the public are encouraged to sign up, and all assistance will be appreciated. Some of the plants will be quite easy to pull up, so even the younger set can pitch in. The work will go ahead rain or shine, and at the end of the session, everyone can walk away knowing they have made a positive impact.

Getting involved with an environmental project like this may interest many people, but they may not know how to get started. A flyer printing company will be happy to help get the word out about such initiatives to the public.

Anyone who would like to show some love to Mother Nature and meet others who share their interest in environmental stewardship is encouraged to participate in the Remove Invasive Plants at the Cariboo Heights Forest session on June 10th. It will begin at 9:45 am.
