The rivers in and around Burnaby play a vital role in the local environment, and a special event will show some love to these waterways.
World Rivers Day will be a celebration of the role rivers, streams, creeks and similar waters play in the world. Burnaby Village Museum will be the venue for Burnaby’s instalment, and the activities will kick off in the late morning.
The family-friendly function will explore what makes rivers so important, and there will be an assortment of displays and demonstrations. Tours will also be on offer, and live entertainers will keep the crowd smiling.
Along with the World Rivers Day event, there are two Ecosystem Restoration Events seeking helping hands. These will restore ecosystems in Charles Rummel and Ron McLean Parks, and advance registration is required. The equipment needed for the task at hand and snacks will be supplied.
Environmental service projects can be both fun and rewarding. Promotional Products to thank volunteers for their hard work and support can be crafted by local Print shops, and there are choices that fit in with the theme of almost any occasion.
