Organ donation can help to save lives, and an event is planned for Burnaby that will help to show support for those who have been given this gift, and also to raise awareness of just how important it is.
The Transplant Trot will see runners and walkers from the city and surrounding areas come out to complete the five-kilometer course. People can register to participate online. The fee to do so is $38.50 for an individual adult, or $12.50 for children. The cost for those who get involved as part of a team is $33, while for living donors and transplant recipients, there is no cost.
Those who use the early bird online registration page will receive a free T-shirt, and the first 250 will also be given a Canadian Transplant Association bag. Promotional Products like these not only say thank you for helping, they also spread the word about the organization hosting this type of event.
Those who wish to do so can also register on the day of the Trot.
Information packages can be picked up on April 9 at the Running Room, located at 7382 Market Crossing in Burnaby. Those who wish to solicit donations can ask their sponsors to contribute online, or they can also download a Transplant Trot pledge form.
