Burnaby offers outdoor opera experience

A Burnaby event is set to make the art of opera a lot more accessible.

The city will be rolling out the welcome mat for Opera in the Park, allowing people to experience a taste of an operatic performance right in their own home community thanks to Vancouver Opera Vancouver and Symphony Orchestra. Deer Lake Park will serve as the venue for this outdoor experience, and it has been recommended that, as parking is limited, the audience members find alternative transport.

The concert will open with a family friendly pre-show, and there will be food trucks rolling in so the audience can choose their favourite fare or try something new. Everyone is advised to bring a blanket or folding chair so they can relax in comfort while they take in the performance. Service animals with proper documentation may attend, but it has been requested that pets be left at home. Large tents are not permitted.

Communities across Canada take advantage of the summer weather by hosting outdoor concerts and movie screenings. A poster printing company can help spread the word of such events, and can prepare weather-resistant market materials.

Burnaby’s Opera in the Park will be putting Vancouver Opera’s performers front and centre on July 13th. It will be on offer at the Deer Lake Festival Lawn, the festivities will begin at 7:30 pm.
