Burnaby event to focus on money management

Keeping an eye on personal finance can prove to be a challenge for some, and an event has been planned for Burnaby that can help make keeping track of one’s accounts a whole lot easier.

The Credit Counseling Society and the Burnaby Public Library will be teaming up to offer a session that will discuss budgeting, with a focus on “budget breakers”. The facilitator will share tips about how a person can set up a personal, family or household budget, and how they can anticipate and plan for expenses. Advice will be shared about how to organize a savings plan for emergencies, and also how to avoid impulse spending. The organizers noted that the goal is for people to have peace of mind when it comes to money matters.

The workshop will be interactive, and attendees will be welcome to share their own ways for saving money and budgeting, and ask any questions they might have. It will run for 90 minutes, and there will be no charge to participate. Branded note pads and other printed materials can be provided for a seminar like this so that those who take part can jot down any points they find especially useful to them.

The Tommy Douglas Branch of the Burnaby Public Library will serve as the venue for this event, which will be held on October 17. Anyone with questions, or who would like to register, is invited to do so through its Burnaby Now listing.
