Burnaby evening to introduce public to world of wasps

Many people consider wasps to be stinging pests, but a Burnaby area activity will show they have an important role to play in the natural world.

These insects will be the focus of a workshop that has been planned by Vancouver’s Raven’s Veil , which will introduce a variety of the species that make up the Vespa family. It will blend science with storytelling, and tickets for the evening start at $51.20.

The participants in the activity will learn about wasps and their behaviour, including why they are important predators and scavengers. Photos and real specimens will be used, and there will also be a discussion of their life cycle. The assembled group will be building their own paper mache hornet’s nest and will discover how they can utilize it around their own property to keep these insects from making a home where they are not wanted.
