An upcoming seminar in Burnaby will help demystify the process of project management.
The event, which has been organized by the Independent Contractors and Business Association (ICBA), will give those who participate a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of managing projects. It will cover everything from the initial stages of planning and then initiating a project, through implantation and finally review. They will also receive instruction in building their own toolkit of techniques in this field that they can use in their own career.
This short course is geared towards project coordinators, project managers, members of project teams and also individuals who just want to learn more about the process involved and how they can put it to work for them.
The specific topics that will be covered include key skills used in project management, the eight key pillars of the process, how to determine the scope of a project, scheduling, maintaining quality, managing resources, managing risk, communication, procurement and how to avoid issues that commonly occur.
The seminar is scheduled for April 18 and 19, with Janet Bonaguro as the instructor. She is the Principal of Thinkspace Performance and has many years of experience in the field. Instructional materials for courses such as this can be given to the students in Presentation Folders so they can easily be distributed and then retained.
