The 14th annual World Rivers Day celebration is taking place in Burnaby next month. It is also an observance of the 38th annual Rivers Day in British Columbia and seeks to educate people about the importance of our waterways.
There is set to be live musical entertainment, hands-on activities, exhibits from
water-related community groups and demonstrations by water professionals. The AquaZone is a mobile classroom that will have educational information about the oceans. Children will be able to take part in activities such as making a fish windsock or having their faces painted. Other activities will also be hosted by the Nylon Zoo and Stories on Wheels.
Some of those performing at this year’s festival are ventriloquist Kelly Haines and folksinger Ginalina. There will also be documentary screenings.
The public will be able to enjoy the salmon special in the ice cream parlor, get advice from the Gardener-in-Residence or take a ride on the carousel for $2.65.
No doubt many families from Burnaby will be attending this one-day celebration; organizers often invest in flyer printing services to help spread the word.
