Back to the future in Burnaby

Burnaby residents will soon have an opportunity to enjoy a blast from the past while helping to support those living with Parkinson’s disease.

This October marks the 30th anniversary of the Back to the Future film, in which the main characters were transported 30 years forward in time from 1985. Event organizers felt the movie would be an excellent way to raise money for the Michael J. Fox foundation, which supports Parkinson’s research. The movie stars Michael J. Fox was born in Burnaby, and it will be shown in a theater that was named in his honor.

The event starts at 12:00 pm, and will feature a screening of all three of the movies in the series. There will also be popcorn to enjoy and those who come out will have an opportunity to have their picture taken next to a 1981 DeLorean car , which was one of the focal points of the films. Food trucks will also be on hand, and there will be a raffle with the prize being autographed movie Posters of Michael J. Fox. Banners and other decorations that feature elements from the movies can help to add to the overall festivity and excitement of the day.
