Two Abbotsford businesses in top ten finalists for B.C. award

Two companies from Abbotsford have been selected to sit among the top ten finalists in a competition designed to recognize small businesses throughout

the province.

In the category for Best Apprentice Training, Fire and Ice Hair Company made the list, while Sparkle Project BC was chosen to be among those at the top for Best Community Impact.

The list of the ten finalists was determined by votes from the community. All told, 535 enterprises were nominated from 71 different communities across the province. A panel of judges will now trim this down to the final top five, and on February 25th, the winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel. A graphic design company will be able to design and produce special awards certificates for such events that can be given to the winners in each of the categories.

The final winners of the competition will be given the Premier’s Prize as well as $1,500 in cash and also an all-access membership to make use of the educational, networking and mentoring resources available through Small Business B.C.

The overall sponsor for the awards program is the Insurance Bureau of Canada, with the Best Apprentice Training award being presented by BCIT and ITA and the Best community Impact award by Vancity.

Those who would like to learn more about the program are invited to visit the Small Business B.C. website.
