Special ceremony heralds new citizens arrival

At a recent ceremony in the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford, Canada gave a warm welcome to its newest citizens. It was a day that the 49 people who took part will long remember.

The participants, who were immigrants from 10 different countries from all over the world, swore their allegiance to their new home.

According to those who took part, they have many different reasons for wanting to live in Canada. Some valued the safety, peacefulness, and stability of the nation, while others were looking forward to the educational opportunities that would now be available to their children. One remarked on the beauty of the country and its culture.

Immigration Judge Dane Minor, who presided over the ceremony, noted that – with the exception of the First Nations’ people – at some point in time the families of all Canadians were immigrants themselves. They came to this country looking for acceptance and a better life. She challenged those present to continue to maintain that welcoming attitude. She also encouraged them to help others and to do what they can to make a positive difference in the world.

For many of those who took part, it was one of the most important days of their lives. Print companies can help to commemorate the day by creating special certificates or other printed items that can be proudly displayed. They can also create themed decorations for the celebrations that are often held to mark the occasion.
