Property values for homes in West Abbotsford have shown a dramatic rise over the past 12 months, while those in the rest of the city showed a more modest increase.
Many homeowners
received their annual property assessments from BC Assessments, and on average, they were $50,000 higher than in 2014. The current property value for a home in the community is currently $424,000. This is typically higher than those in the rest of the city.
These values are based on many factors such as the location, size and age of the house in question, as well as what “extras” it may have. The end result is that some will find that they may be paying a bit more in property tax than they did last year. The deputy assessor for the region, Brian Smith, noted that, for the most part, these increases will not be significant.
