The City of Abbotsford has announced its plans for its annual Canada Day festival, featuring a cinematic parade and a major festival.
The day will kick off with the traditional Canada Day Parade. This year’s parade will have the theme “Lights, Camera, Canada Day” and incorporate tributes to classic movie moments in addition to the usual array of local marching bands, floats, and community organizations. This will be followed by a day-long festival aimed at local families. There will be different zones representing different parts of the Abbotsford Community, including an Agri-Fun Zone, Sports Zone and STEM Zone.
The festival grounds will include a Community Showcase with booths hosted by local cultural groups and nonprofit organizations. Exhibitors at festivals like this often use brochure printing and giveaways to help better communicate how people can get involved with their community. Local businesses will also be represented at a special marketplace of handmade and homegrown items, curated by The Mango Market, and a line-up of food trucks selected by the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival. For entertainment, there will be a stage for performances by local artists and cultural groups programmed by the Abbotsford Arts Council, all leading up to a classic fireworks finale.
Abbotsford’s 2025 Canada Day Parade will go down South Fraser Way and Trethewey Street on the morning of July 1, with the Family Festival following at Abbotsford Exhibition Park.
