The Rotary Club of Abbotsford recently hosted another successful Million Dollar Hole in One golf competition, which allowed it to make a generous donation to
a local not for profit group.
The event attracted 536 golfers, and between their generosity and that of the sponsors, volunteers and donors, the organization was able to raise $44,000, from which it made a donation of $29,000 to the Abbotsford Hospice. The details about how the remainder will be allocated will be presented sometime in the near future.
The Rotary Mullion Dollar Hole in One was first organized when the club heard about the hospice, and they wanted to help them pay their first mortgage off. So far, they have contributed nearly $500,000 to the organization. The Banners and other decorations for such an event can be prepared by a professional printer at a cost that makes them very affordable and well within the club’s fundraising budget.
The fundraising director for the Rotary Club noted that they are proud of the way the community stepped forward to help those in need, and that they wouldn’t be able to do the work that they do without the support of the community. For his part, David Turchen, who is the board chairperson with the hospice, expressed his thanks to the Rotarians and pointed out he is very appreciative of their tremendous help.
