A lab in Abbotsford has recently had the distinction of receiving accreditation from a prestigious international body.
The Abbotsford Animal Health Center, located in the Abbotsford Agricultural Center on Angus Campbell Road, has been given a five year accreditation from the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD). It is one of only three labs in Canada to have been granted this designation, which recognizes excellence in their field.
The lab is the largest section of the province’s animal health branch, and handles over 5,000 cases per year. It performs the task of detecting and diagnosing animal diseases in livestock, companion animals, fish, wildlife, zoo animals, bees, frogs, and other animals at risk.
It also monitors diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans, such as West Nile virus, bird flu, and BSE. In addition, the lab monitors animal health issues that affect food production, safety, and exports.
A committee from the AAVLD visited the facility last fall and prepared a report about the lab. It was voted on in February, and it was decided to approve the designation as providing superior quality control and quality assurance.
A laboratory such as this receives many requests from the public and agricultural sector each year. A Print company can produce Forms that can accompany each submission, as well as informational pamphlets that explain the process. These can help to streamline the process and ensure maximum efficiency.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Forms
