Abbotsford is so proud of its agricultural heritage that it has been dubbed the “berry capital of Canada”, and it will be celebrating these small fruits in a big way next month.
The community will soon see the annual Berry Fest street festival make its return for another summer. The activities on the agenda will offer fun for every age, and the festivities will be capped off by a chance to sample the stars of the show – locally grown berries.
The celebration, which will be on offer at Essendene and Montrose, is being organized by the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association. There will be carnival-style rides and food, pop-up vendors, a pie-eating contest, live entertainment, food trucks, face painting and fresh berries straight from local fields and patches. It will run for eight hours, and both locals and visitors alike are welcome to attend.
