The event highlights the time-tested art of scrapbooking, preserving images and artifacts from one’s life. The retreat will offer each participant six feet of table space, lighting, and electrical outlets to work on their projects together without being interrupted. There will be craft vendors selling materials, tools, and other items that can help take scrapbooks to the next level. Materials can also be obtained through raffles, which include a “toonie draw”, door prizes, and a 50/50 lottery. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tools and materials as well as food, drinks and comfortable clothes, with the event marketed as:
“A crafting retreat where your only distraction for the whole weekend is laughing with friends and the bright and shiny equipment and projects of others.”
Scrapbook Daze will be the first retreat of the year hosted by Whole Heart, an organization that hosts crafting events and sells memorial items. High demand for the event led to the addition of a third day on Friday evening. Events hosted throughout the weekend include demonstrations, games, and a make-n-take craft exchange. Scrapbookers often turn to local craft stores and printing services to help fuel their creative projects and prepare for events like this.
The 2024 Scrapbook Daze will take place from May 3 to 5 in Abbotsford.
