Flower pressing is an art form that combines home horticulture with creative crafting, and a class will teach the fundamentals of the practice to a group of Abbotsford learners.
The city’s Artist in Residence program will be running a Pressed Flower Greeting Card class, and it will show the attendees how easy it can be to prepare handmade gifts. It will be on offer at Karlton House Grounds, and tickets are free.
Participants will learn how to press flowers, and will then use the materials provided to craft their own greeting cards to keep or send. The techniques taught by the facilitator can also be used to craft other repressed flower projects, and the workshop is planned for outdoors. No previous experience is needed. Children and those who need extra assistance are encouraged to take part, but will need to have their parent or caretaker with them.
A hands on crafting class gives people a chance to learn a new hobby, and they can also be a lot of fun. A Print professional can offer flying printing services that may be a good fit for small, not-for-profit events.
This opportunity to learn how to transform pressed summer flowers into a special keepsake will be held on September 21st. Everyone who Signs up is asked to be in their seat by no later than 9:00 am.
