The Lethbridge Writers’ Conference, also known as Wordbridge, will return this February with a full day of events aimed at local authors of all levels.
The conference features multiple tracks of workshops, author talks, social mixers and other events for attendees to choose from. The keynote speakers will be horror and sci-fi author Craig DiLouie and literary writer P. J. Vernon. Other authors who will appear on panels include editor and short story writer Robert Bose, young adult fantasy author Adam Dreece and literary agent Stacey Kondla. There will be panel discussions on various genres and topics, with titles ranging from “Paths to Publishing” to “Romancing the Novel”.
One popular event is “Live Action Slush”, where writers can have the first page of their work in progress critiqued by literary agents and authors just as it would be when submitting for publication.
The conference will have a theme of “Turning Over a New Page”, aimed at writers who are looking for a fresh start or to make new connections. Modern writers have to master everything from traditional skills like plot and character development to new opportunities such as advertising through social media or self-publishing through printing services.
Wordbridge is typically held annually in Lethbridge and aims to attract writers from across Southern Alberta. The 2022 edition of Wordbridge will take place on February 25 at the Main Branch of the Lethbridge Public Library.
