Women of Distinction Honoured in Lethbridge, AB Media
Several women have been honored for making Lethbridge, AB a safer and happier place to live and have been awarded Women of Distinction awards for 2011. Local media outlets have been following the exceptional women’s stories of inspiration, mentoring influences in the community and contributions to as role models. The women represent different causes, inspirations and views, yet all six have been successful in transforming the community.
Cheryl Dick was awarded the Community Commitment award, for providing exceptional leadership in her role as CEO of Economic Development Lethbridge. First female returning officer of Alberta Arleen Abriez is a known media face. The winner of the Spirit of Women category has coordinated many volunteer events, many of which have been heavily advertised in the Lethbridge, AB community.
Similar Social Advocate commendations go to Bonny Greenshields, owner of a café in downtown Lethbridge, AB. Her social advocacy contributions to the community include working with people with special needs and championing their causes locally. Darcie James took the YWCA Champion category for her role as manager of the Victim/Witness Services Unit with the Lethbridge regional police. Kelsey Yue was recipient of the Young Woman of Distinction award.
Olga Kovalchuk’s is a Community Leader doctor, researcher, biology professor and a doctor.
