U of L to honour longtime professor
The University of Lethbridge will hold its annual Arts & Science Scholarship Dinner this October. In addition to raising money for future scholars, the dinner will honour Dr. Dennis Connolly, who has been with the university for over 50 years.
In addition to his teaching career, which began in 1967, Connolly is known as an advocate for the University’s sports teams and extracurricular programs, being a founding member of the Support Our Students Campaign. He has taught a total of 225 classes to both undergraduates and graduates in the Mathematics Department. He is also known for his research that helped an Australian town win a legal case against the British Department of Defence over radiation poisoning.
Also known as “wine and dine”, the evening will centre on a multi-course wine-pairing dinner with a focus on Australian wine to honour Connolly’s Australian heritage. The event will also include a presentation familiarizing the audience with both the good cause and the wine. It is the second annual such dinner, with each event raising funds for a scholarship in the name of the honouree. Events like this, often commemorated with promotional products or corporate gifts, help bring both academic and local communities together.
The Wine & Dine will take place on the evening of October 17 at Lethbridge’s Sandman Signature hotel. All donations will be tax-deductible.
