Local community celebrates its mining past

Coalhurst Miners Days is taking place this August for two days.

The festival is set to feature a variety of different activities that should appeal to people of all ages. The first evening, beginning at 4:00pm, is when the beer gardens open and there will be live entertainment.

The next day is filled with activities, which will all begin with a Toonie breakfast at the Community Center, for which children under six years of age will only pay one dollar. Later on in the morning, a parade will take place that will begin and end at the high school, traveling east on 6th Street, before west on 51st Avenue and north on 2nd Street. There is still room for participants to register, who will compete for prizes in categories such as equestrian, children's, business and community.

There is also a car show and shine taking place. The entry fee for this activity is $10 per vehicle, while more information is available from Lawrence Watmough at 403-381-4138.

For the kids, there will be bouncy castles, bumper balls, dunk tanks, a tug of war, temporary tattoos, and carnival games.

People from all over the area, including Lethbridge, are sure to attend this popular annual event. To help spread the word, organizers may invest in flyer printing services.
