Coldest night walk to support charity in Lethbridge

Lethbridge’s Streets Alive Mission will be bringing back its annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk this February, with the goal of combating homelessness.

The event is a non-competitive route along a two or five-kilometre course throughout downtown Lethbridge. The route will include rest stops, marshals, and support vehicles. There will a leaderboard for those who can pledge the most to support the cause. The event will feature opening remarks, with a light meal and farewell following the walk. Participants are encouraged to wear waterproof shoes or boots and warm coat, as the walk is, as the name suggests, hosted on what is often one of the coldest nights of the winter.

Money raised through the walk will go towards the Streets Alive Mission, which runs programs that combat poverty and homelessness in Lethbridge and has been doing so for over 30 years. Participants can also raise money for other charities of their choice, and can participate in an offsite walk with friends and family if they are not able to join the main event. Charity walks and runs often offer Promotional Products for participating, and donors of at least $150 will receive a Coldest Night of the Year commemorative toque.

The 2025 edition of Lethbridge’s Coldest Night of the Year will take place on the evening of February 22, with the walk beginning at Festival Square.
