Many people would like to get involved in environmental stewardship but aren’t sure how to get started, and an upcoming Calgary project will help them to get their feet wet.
Nature Calgary will be organizing a clean-up day for Elliston Park, which is the second largest body of water in the city. As many hands make light work, all help will be welcome, but children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
The participants in the project will undertake a variety of tasks and these include picking up litter, culling and removing invasive weed species and general maintenance. The helpers will also construct and install both bumblebee and bird nesting Boxes so that the space will be very welcoming to wildlife. The attendees will have the option to pre-order a kit for these so they will be able to take one home for their own yard as well.
By offering the public an easy way to give Mother Nature some TLC, an event like this may help to create a whole new crop of environmental stewards. Posting a pop up banner at any project site can help to raise public awareness, and these sorts of reusable marketing items are available at a local banner printing company.
Everyone who is interested in taking part in this activity is asked to register ahead of time, and it will take place on September 18th. Additional details can be obtained by visiting its online listing.
