Calgarys Bow Tower officially opens

Calgary is definitely a city on the rise, and with the recent grand opening celebration for the new Bow Tower, a high standard has been set for future developments.

The festivities to mark the occasion included presentations, a firework display, and brightly colored Banners which were sourced from nearby printing companies.

The 58-story tower rises 236 meters into the city skyline, marking it as North America’s second largest structure, surpassed by only the Freedom towers in New York City. The alteration has also provided local artists and printing companies with fresh inspiration when it comes to reflecting the city in their work.

Built by Mathew’s Development, and with a building price tag of over $1.7 billion, the new structure is the end result of ongoing cooperation between the provincial and city governments, as well as the building’s owners and future tenants. Many people worked hard for over seven years to construct a building they could be proud of.

The Bow, as it affectionately called, will be the first corporate building of its kind in East Calgary, and will house the main offices of the energy giants Encana and Conovus. At full capacity, it will provide space for over 4,000 employees to work in climate controlled comfort and impressive surroundings.

Visitors and residents of Calgary often comment on how far the city has come over recent years and it is hoped that in the future, it will see more of this type of development. With the bar set this high, the future looks very bright for Calgary’s urban landscape.
