As Calgary prepares for another holiday season, the staff at Calgary Zoo are also at work getting ready for the return of Zoolights, which has become a popular local fundraising event.
The function, which is offered thanks to support from Olympia Trust Company and other corporate partners, will be celebrating its 25th year, and the installations will remain in place for six weeks. It will be held most evenings, and the zoo’s security staff will clear out any straggling visitors before the switch is thrown.
Once the gates reopen for Zoolights, ticketholders will be invited to explore the site and enjoy all the illuminated displays. Many of these will be themed, and there will also be bonfires, axe throwing, skating and other fun. New for this year, there will be sensory support Bags that can help to make the visit more enjoyable for guests with sensory processing issues.
