Creating a workplace that is friendly to those living with a disability will be the focus of an activity offered to both current and prospective members of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
The advocacy and support organization will be hosting a presentation in advance of Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) that will help Calgary businesses become more proactive when it comes to disability accommodations. It will be all about making inclusion work for all employees.
The presenters for the session will provide an introduction to DEAM and who it is for, and there will be a variety of options shared for how employers can get involved. There will be information about how the initiative is taking place in communities all across the province, and everyone will walk away with resources they can use, as well as actionable tips.
Providing support to disabled employees may include having custom materials prepared. This service will be on offer at local Stationery printers, which can supply everything from Print versions of employee guidelines and safety instructions to materials with oversized lettering for those who are visually impaired.
The Calgary Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its Leading the way for Disability Employment Awareness Month at noon on September 16th. It will be taking place at its offices located at 112 4 Ave SW.
