Calgary police canines strut their stuff for charity

The Calgary Police Canine Unit recently unveiled its latest fund raising campaign.

The unit has produced its third annual canine calendar, which features photos of the 22 dogs they use and also information about them and what they do in their day to day working life. It also includes an insert that has 13 pictures.

Based on past history, the 20,000 Copies of the publication, which went on sale to the public for $10.00 in early September at all 35 Safeway stores across the city, were expected to sell out fast. In previous years, they were very poplar and sold out quickly.

According to Sgt. Todd McNutt, they are so well liked that there are more than a few people who collect them each year, and he hopes that this year will be just as successful. With the help of Safeway, and the printing company who worked to design and Print the final product, the belief is that it will be able to raise a lot of money.

Anyone who would like to purchase one of the Calendars can also do so by visiting the Calgary police foundation’s website at calgarypolicefoundation.ca or the Calgary Police’s website at calgarypolice.ca.

Funds raised by the calendars will go towards helping to support the Calgary Police YouthLink, which works with young people throughout the city to help them make good choices in their everyday lives. So far, the canine calendar program has raised almost $100,000.
