What's Happening in Calgary, AB…

Photographing the natural world is a hobby enjoyed by many from Calgary, and they will soon be offered an opportunity to learn how to get their best shots ever.

Fish Creek Provincial Park will serve as the location for a series of summer sessions that will give an introduction to photography. People can bring along their digital camera, phone or film-based equipment and go on a guided tour of the park while riding in an open air mini-bus. As they drive, they can ask questions, and during the frequent stops, they will be able to try out the new techniques they have learned.

The workshops will be led by Bob Bakker, who holds a certificate in photography from SAIT. He is an avid photographer, and enjoys spending time in the park practicing his hobby. The organizers of the events remind people to come dressed for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and bring along fly repellent and sunscreen. Tripods will be optional. A local printer that offers binding services can craft simple manuals that can be given to each participant in a function such as this.

These events, which will be dedicated to helping local photo buffs showcase the city’s natural side, has been planned for Fish Creek Provincial Park’s Bo Valley Ranch. They will take place throughout the summer and early fall, and a full schedule, as well as additional information for anyone who needs it, can be found on the Friends of Fish Creek website.
