Pressing flowers has been used for centuries to both preserve plants and create herbarium sheets and other works of art, and the attendees in a Calgary workshop later this month will be utilizing them for a candle-making project.
The Pressed Flower Candle Workshop has been planned for a venue in the city, and it will include a review of the science behind their scents. Everyone will walk away with their own 8oz candle made from soy-based wax, and pressed flowers will be incorporated into their final design.
Once the class has discussed the science behind their projects, it will be time to get crafting. Everyone can create their own scent, and at least 40 will be available. The pressed flowers will be provided, and the participants may choose to sprinkle the petals on top, embed the flowers in the sides of their candle or line the jar, or they may choose to do all three. The registration fee is $65.23.
