Calgary Art Walk 2011

The 4th Calgary Art Walk of the year will take place on September 1 on the Stephen Avenue pedestrian concourse. This is the third year that the Canadian Artists for the Poor has presented these free open air art shows. Everyone can help to publicize this worthy event by printing the poster available on the organization's website.

The goal of the Calgary Art Walk is to raise funds for the Canadian Artists for the Poor who

"raise money for charities helping those in the poorest areas of the world."

It costs artists $100 to display and sell their art during the event; artists have to bring their own tables in which to display their artworks and tents are available for rental. However, the artists keep all the money raised by the selling of their artwork. The types of artists who will be displaying and selling their artwork will include painters, photographers, graphic artists and sculptors.

Canadian Artists for the Poor have donated funds to such organizations as GAIN, Lifeline Malawi, The Mustard Seed and the Mully Children's Family Charitable Foundation. They also give an opportunity to local artists to display and sell their artworks through such events as the Calgary Art Walk. Not only do the general public get to look at and possible buy original works of art, they also find out about an organization that is striving to make the world a better place to live in for all regardless of where they live.
