Calgarians invited to celebrate universitys 50th year

For the last 50 years, the University of Calgary has been offering students a chance to pursue a post secondary education in the city, and a celebration has been planned to mark this anniversary year.

Both alumni and the general public are invited to take part in the many different activities that have been organized. At least 50 lectures will be given on variety of topics ranging from tips on how to keep the aging brain active and protect one’s mental health, how a person can improve their running technique, and more.

Displays and exhibits will also be set up, and tours of the different university facilities, such as the Schullich School of Engineering and the Taylor Family Digital Library will be offered. Those who enjoy hands-on activities will be able to take part in workshops where they can have fun learning something new. Brochures can be printed for the occasion that give more details about the different courses and continuing education programs that the university has to offer.

The anniversary celebration weekend is planned for April 30th to May 1st. While most of the events are offered free of charge, some do have a cost to take part in them.

More details about the 50th anniversary Alumni Weekend, including a list of the activities that are being organized, can be found on the University of Calgary website.
