The numbers are in, and indicate that the Calgary Public Library has seen a boom in the number of people making use of its facilities to borrow Books and other materials.
More than half a million people
took out library cards in 2015, and a million more visited its different branches than did so last year. According to the institution’s CEO Bill Ptacek, part of the reason for this may have been that library cards are now free to obtain, while there was formerly a $12 charge to get one. Ptacek noted that this makes it a great entertainment value.
Ptacek also remarked that an effort has been made to reach out to the children in the community to help instil a love of reading and more than 83,000 of cardholders are less than five years old. Special programs have been set up just for this age range, while its initiatives such as homework assistance can be of use to kids of any age.
The library has worked throughout the past year to increase its number of digital offerings, meeting spaces and more that can be accessed by its members. In 2015, cardholders downloaded more than a million Books.
Working for libraries and other public institutions, a printing company can produce a variety of Promotional Products, such as Posters and Flyers, to raise awareness of the services on offer.
Anyone who would like to learn to more is invited to visit the Calgary Library.
