Airdrie fundraiser to brave the cold
The Coldest Night of the Year is a grassroots level movement that seeks to end homelessness in Canada, and an event on the way to Airdrie will raise money for the cause.
The activity will see individuals and teams take to the street in late February to experience what homeless people do every day. They can choose a two- or five-kilometre route, and everyone is encouraged to participate.
Monies raised by the walkers will be donated to Airdrie P.O.W.E.R., which helps women to flee domestic violence by ensuring they have the resources they need. After they have finished their walk, Participants will be treated to a light meal and a chance to enjoy one another’s company before they head for home.
To thank the event’s top fundraisers for their hard work, toques featuring a special Coldest Night of the Year graphic design will be distributed for as long as supplies last to anyone who collects at least $150. Items branded with a group’s logo design may help to raise awareness each time they are used, and they can be ordered from printing professionals in the local area.
This chance for Airdrie to help bring everyone in from the cold will be taking place on February 25th. The staging area will be located at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
