Artists and would-be artists alike are welcome to attend a free event in Perth where they can hone their drawing skills or try them out for the first time.
WA Portrait Artists was set up in 2012 by a group of artists who also practice portraiture as part of their skillset. Between them, they have racked up many national and international prizes, such as the Shirley Hannan, Portia Geach, Doug Moran and The Archibald.
The group seeks to inspire, innovate and support portraiture, using means such as community engagement, collaboration and exhibitions.
At Pop-up Portraits, members of the group will be present to instruct the attendees. Local performers will be sitting as the live models for the participants. Everyone is welcome to bring along their own drawing materials or can make a gold coin donation and have them supplied.
This event is supported by a collaboration between Perth Art Weekend, The Lester Prize and the WA Museum.
Art-style events might be promoted within the community by means of colourful poster printing.
Pop-up Portraits is taking place on Sunday, 15 November, from 10 am until midday. This is an outdoor event, taking place on the forecourt of the City Room at the WA Museum Boola Bardip, Perth Cultural Centre, James Street, Perth. The event is free, but it is necessary to register for a place.
