The choreographers for the Engine Tour are Rafael Bonachela, Fran Diaz and Melanie Lane.
Bonachela’s work is The Journey Itself is Home, and has as its inspiration the 17th century poet Matsuo Basho from Japan, and includes music by Grammy Award-winner Bryce Dessner.
The work from Spanish choreographer Diaz is named The Mass Ornament, and it will be coming to Australia for the first time. It is based on Siegfried Kracauer’s essay of 1927 and uses the music of Henryk Gorecki.
The final piece is Lane’s Love Lock, which is a reimagining of future folk dance, with a score by UK artist Clark and costumes by fashion designer Akira Isogawa.

Sydney Dance Company will be hosting the Engine Tour from 5 until 8 August in the Heath Ledger Theatre at the State Theatre Centre of WA. The show starts at 7 pm on the Wednesday and Thursday, and 5 pm on the Saturday. The duration of the show is 105 minutes, to include an interval. Tickets cost from $63.
