The inaugural Freo Royale is coming soon for residents and visitors to Fremantle, Western Australia.
As part of the Fringe World festival, an estimated 50 acts will perform in over 100 shows at various venues throughout the port city during a 12-day program.
Locations to host events include Clancy’s Fish Pub, Sail and Anchor, Mojo’s Bar and the Victoria Hall.
Flyer printing will help locals weave their way from one performance to the next, with the programme including everything from art and music to comedy, theatre and cabaret.
The festival has been organised by the City of Fremantle and the Vulture Culture events agency.
Ronan Freeburn, Vulture Culture director, said a highlight of the festival would be Kings Square Common, which will offer exhibitions, children’s activities, a host of free entertainment, stalls, drinks, food and a pop-up bar.
He said the idea to bring the Fringe World shows to Fremantle followed its success last year on a Midland satellite site. It worked so well that approaching the organisers resulted in Mr Freeburn gaining the go-ahead to produce and manage the Fremantle Fringe World program, tagged Freo Royale.
Many of the shows to be staged during Freo Royale, from February 4 to 15, have already been seen by thousands of visitors to other major events, including the Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland.
