Western United Football Club unveils new logo design

West Melbourne’s and Hyundai A-League’s newest club have not only decided on a name but have now settled on its first ever club crest.

Western United recently selected green and black as its team colours, and has now revealed that its crest will be a W-shaped design, similar in style to the Warner Brothers logo.

In an effort to stay on trend as a modern football club, Western United has decided to go with a minimalist style which highlights a single feature, rather than stay with the more traditional design.

Choosing the colours and design with which to brand the club, Western United team members took into consideration the importance of using a design that was instantly recognisable to its fans as being location specific to West Melbourne.

The green in the club’s colours is representative of the many grassy reserves found in the area and the black represents the criss-cross of the dark bitumen roads, especially as seen from an aerial view.

WUFC CEO Maurice Bisetto said the club had listened to its fans and created a brand identity which is modern and fresh and hopes that the graphic design of the logo will take the club’s identity into the future, reflecting its bold aspirations rather than relying on a legacy of tradition.
