Melbourne to showcase breadth of musical talent at venues across city

Victoria’s capital is about to put a focus on the sound of music for the staging of the 2014 Melbourne Music Week.

Around 40 venues across the city, including West Melbourne, will take part in the major event, which is now in its fifth year.

Organisers have put together 110 dynamic events over the 10-day music program, which will include daily performances during the morning, lunch, and evening.

According to the city’s Marketing Melbourne committee chairman, Cr Beverley Pinder-Mortimer, the event has given the council an opportunity to showcase the breadth of music and talent in what she described as one of the world’s great music cities.

She said Melbourne Music Week was an event like no other.

Top performers and Innovative events will feature as part of the program, including a few surprise musical treats in CBD elevators and daytime musical tennis matches.

International and local acts will be featured when the event transforms the Queen Victoria Market (QVM) into a vibrant performance space. A popular venue, the QVM will also make available curated Menus featuring fresh local produce for music lovers attending the concerts.

Special performances – such as the premiere of Midnight Juggernauts’ musical and visual installation, Aerials – will be marketed through poster, program, and brochure printing.

Melbourne Music Week will be held from November 14th to 23rd.
