Thornbury to welcome star from Sydney

An acclaimed Australian recording artist will be performing a live set in Thornbury this winter.

Music fans in Thornbury will soon be able to see the legendary Donny Benet in concert. The Sydney-based star will be arriving in the suburb in June to play for two consecutive dates at a local venue, to introduce his newest material.

Local venues that host live acts often rely on experienced banner printing services for a wide range of signage solutions in different sizes to deploy on site as adverts and notices.

Born Ben Waples, Benet has Italian heritage and was encouraged to follow in his father’s footsteps as a musician. A 2020 interview with leading music publication NME unearthed that Ben Waples devised his Donny Benet stage and recording persona after he saw an Italian accordionist play to nursing homes.

Before launching his solo career, Waples was a double bass player for various Sydney-based jazz bands.

The upcoming Thornbury shows will see the artist playing tracks from his sixth studio album to date entitled “Infinite Desires”. It was recently released through his own newly created label, Donnyland Records. The upcoming shows will also likely feature favoured hits from his back catalogue.

Donny Benet will now perform live in concert at The Croxton on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9. The venue is sited at 607 High Street, Thornbury.
